Delray Beach Public Library will unveil its splashy, new ‘Library-On-The-Go' golf cart designed to bring the Library straight into Delray neighborhoods - including free books, technology, and even Librarians - to ensure children who have experienced learning loss due to the pandemic get a fun, educational boost throughout the summer. The 7-week program will also teach leadership skills and provide relevant, age-appropriate books and hands-on activities, featuring one aspect of leadership weekly: - Week 1: Responsibility - Week 2: Caring - Week 3: Respect - Week 4: Citizenship - Week 5: Trustworthiness - Week 6: Fairness - Week 7: Perseverance The free event will feature book giveaways, sidewalk and chalk art, games, snacks, splash and play activities, a celebration cake, and inspirational tips from local community leaders, including Atlantic High School football coach Jamael Stewart, Delray Beach Mayor Shelly Petrolia, CRA Executive Director Renee Jadusingh, City of Delray Beach Community Policing Unit Officers, City of Delray Beach Education Coordinator Janet Meeks, City of Delray Beach Assistant City Manager Duncan Travers, Achievement Center Executive Director Stephanie Siebel, Milagro Center Executive Director Barbara Stark, KOP Mentoring Executive Director C. Ron Allen, Delray Beach Public Library Executive Director Karen Ronald, Delray Beach Public Library Board President Kim Beckett, and others.
